Baylei Ribeiro (she/her) is a self-taught acrylic artist based in Vancouver, BC. As a body and sex positive feminist who advocates for mental health and equal rights, Baylei uses art as an avenue for self expression and a tool to cope with her own mental health journey.
Baylei’s journey is of self love and self discovery while navigating through an unfamiliar body shadowed by the destruction of mental illness. The story is of relearning confidence, femininity, and sexuality through art. Her work embraces the power of femininity and normalizes nudity. She creates all kinds of bodies through shapes and colours to show both masculine and feminine traits. Working with acrylic has allowed her to mix her own colours and layer paint to develop slightly textured pieces to embody skin and imperfections. She hopes to inspire vulnerability and growth in others with a perspective that their body can be art too.
